Greg Baikie, Goose Bay
Greg Baikie is Labrador’s first home-grown helicopter pilot. A Nunatsiavut beneficiary, Greg has been flying the region now for over 42 years and “still gets a rush” from his time in the cockpit which currently extends beyond 20,000 hours.
In a remote area and harsh environment which some pilots find intimidating, Greg finds familiarity and comfort. “When ferrying aircraft from other parts of the country it can be stressful until you get over Labrador’s remote landscape and then you can relax.” Some of his exploits have been captured in a children’s book by Dave Paddon entitled “Ralph, Flying Hound”.
