“THAT’S THE LAST EVENT that you do to complete the circle of events that take place in the Labrathon. And that is probably one of the big challenges at the end, because it requires a lot of energy to chisel your way through the ice.

I will say of the two or three sports I’ve participated at the Labrador Winter Games, the Labrathon is very, very challenging and needs cardio. The Labrathon is a sport that combines setting a trap, sawing through wood, shooting a target, boiling a pot of snow, and chiseling through the ice. I was very ecstatic about participating in the 2013 Labrathon.

One of the big challenges I had in life was my alcohol and drug addiction in the late 80s. I finally said I had enough in 1990, that was a challenge. All I knew through high school and my young adult life was drinking and partying and so forth.

I’m still sober today and it has been over 26 years.

If you want to compare that to the challenges, the Labrathon was fast and challenging.  At the end of the Labrathon you’re pretty excited. I achieved something-not many people will finish the event.”
